PREMIER DIVISION

The North West Counties League Premier Division Goalkeeper of the Month Award for September 2025 has gone to Ryan Forde of Wythenshawe. Its the first time Ryan has won this award, and the first for Wythenshawe since Kyle Haslam won it in March 2014.

Ryan came through at National League side Altrincham, playing one game for Avro in the Manchester Cup in 2021. His first club in the NWCFL was Alsager Town who he played for in 2022/23 before moving to Cheadle Heath Nomads at the start of 2023/24. He remained at Cheadle for two seasons until moving to Wythenshawe at the start of this season.

September started for Ryan with a 3-0 loss at Ramsbottom United, a day to forget for all at Wythenshawe. The next game though saw him keep a clean sheet - his sixth of the season already - in a 3-0 win over Barnoldswick Town.

He then made several key stops in the 3-1 win over Abbey Hey, and in the third game of the month at home to AFC Liverpool, he made a great reflex save from 6 yards out to deny AFC Liverpool doubling their lead, which led to a great second half comeback in another 3-1 win.

A second clean sheet came in a 1-0 win at FC St Helens. Whilst he did not win Man of the Match, he made four great saves including ‘a blinding reflex save’ which secured the three points for his team.

Two became three in a 5-0 win at New Mills in the Macron Cup, with Ryan rounding off an excellent month with his fourth clean sheet in six games as Wythenshawe won 2-0 at Irlam.

Six games, four clean sheets and just five goals conceded earn Ryan this award for September.

Congratulations to Ryan on his Award!

FIRST DIVISION NORTH

The Goalkeeper of the Month award for the First Division North for September 2025 has gone to Louis Hood of Darwen. He is the first Darwen player to win this award since Oliver Lombard in October 2023.

Louis spent seven years at Accrington Stanley, coming through the Under 23's to earn himself a professional contract. He left in search of regular first team football, playing Darwen before moving on to Glossop North End in 2022/23. Last season saw him at Prestwich Heys before moving back to Darwen where he is this seasons number one.

The first game for Louis in September saw him concede a goal deep into stoppage time in a 1-1 draw at home to Fulwood Amateurs. Next up was a trip to Steeton where he made several good saves to keep his team in the game with his team scoring a late goal in a 2-1 win.

The third game was in the Isuzu FA Vase away at Northern Counties East League side Armthorpe Welfare, with Darwen running out 6-2 winners. And the fourth game of the month saw him keep his second clean sheet of the season in a goalless draw with Garstang in the Macron Cup, the visitors eventually winning on penalties.

A fine month for Louis who conceded just four goals in the four games that he played.

Congratulations to Louis for his performances in the month!

FIRST DIVISION SOUTH

The winner of the September 2025 Goalkeeper of the Month Award for the First Division South for the second month running is Will Ebbrell of Runcorn Town.

Will is in his third season in the league after playing previously for Ashville and Cammell Laird 1907, before moving to Runcorn Town at the start of this season. His first month at Runcorn this season saw him keep four clean sheets in six appearances and he has gone on to have another fine month in September.

The month started with a 2-2 draw with New Mills, followed by a 2-1 home victory over former club Cammell Laird 1907 where Will made several important stops.

The third game saw another 2-2 draw at Eccleshall, before keeping his first clean sheet of the month in a 1-0 win at Cheadle Heath Nomads.

A second clean sheet followed in a 2-0 win at Stockport Town as Runcorn Town progressed through in the Izuzu FA Vase against their higher ranked opponents. And it was yet another clean sheet in the final game of the month in a 1-0 Macron Cup win over Barnton, a game in which pulled off a spectacular one handed save to deny the visitors in the final kick of the game.

Six games, three clean sheets and just five goals conceded in the month for Will.

Congratulations Will!
