Quotes from the Weekend: Matchweek 8

With the majority of NWCFL teams in action across the weekend in the League and the FA Cup, there was plenty of scope to speak to club managers for their opinions on what their teams produced in their 90 minutes.
FA Cup:
Dave McNabb, of Bury (Blyth Spartans 0-3 Bury)
"Saturday was by far our best performance of the season. The way we moved the ball and created chances was incredible. Especially against an NPL Premier Division side who only last season were playing in the National League North.
"The fans were also exceptional. To have three away games on the bounce to the Isle of Man, Glossop and then Blyth is tough going but they turned up in huge numbers and I've got no doubt they helped the lads get the result.
"I'm made up for the lads who deserve all the plaudits for their performance."
Premier Division:
Steve Wilkes, of Ramsbottom United (Burscough 0-6 Ramsbottom United)
"Finally, we had a game where we took our chances. In the previous two games, we've created numerous chances but not managed to put them away.
"To score six goals in any game is an achievement, but to do it away from home is special. I must admit if it wasn't for our keeper Brad Rose making two great saves before we scored, the game could have been very different."
Paul Turnbull, of Stockport Town (AFC Liverpool 2-6 Stockport Town)
"It was an excellent win against a very good AFC Liverpool side who have been on an excellent run. We have lost the last 4 games so to come away from home and implement everything we have worked on was really good to see.
"We scored some unbelievable goals yesterday and it felt like we have been waiting for this moment because we haven't been scoring in recent weeks, so for the goals to come all at once is good. Now we want to add goals into our games in the coming weeks."
First Division North:
Jay Foulds, of Ashton Athletic (Nelson 1-2 Ashton Athletic)
"I’m absolutely made up with the three points, but more importantly it was the manner in which we adapted to a difficult situation. Nelson have had a fantastic start to the season and to go down to 10 men in the first half wasn’t in the pre-match preparation.
"We regrouped at half time and set out our game plan - to put out two banks of four and frustrate them. The ten on the pitch and the subs who came on all rose to the challenge and kept our winning run going.
"The buzz within the squad at the minute is excellent and long may it continue."
Brent Peters, of Bacup Borough (Bacup Borough 3-1 Darwen FC)
"We got off to the best possible start less than one minute in when Kyle Siddle was put through, which resulted in a penalty which Toby Wright converted. From there, we were well in control. We were solid and disciplined, and unlucky not to have increased our lead following two outstanding headers from Toby Wright which hit of the bar.
“Our second goal was worthy of the admission fee, executed by excellent link up team play with a good Wright finish. We gifted Darwen a lifeline by playing the ball square across the pitch, which was read and pounced on, and finished by Rio Wilson-Heyes.
"Despite the fact that Darwen were down to nine men, they did give it a good go in trying to get the equaliser, but I don’t think we ever felt threatened. The game was well and truly put to bed when Brady Boardman drove forward before executing a good ball, from which Alex Mellor produced an amazing finish.
"It was a good, disciplined performance with another three goals adding to last weekend’s five, but it’s a pity that we conceded the one goal, which was down to our error rather than good play by Darwen.”
Guy Heffernan, of Garstang (Garstang 1-0 Ashton Town)
"I’m absolutely delighted to get the win after a tough month of games. The lads have kept digging in during this period. I’m delighted with not just the win, but also for Andrew Murphy coming back and getting the winner.
"Don’t get me wrong, Ashton had their chances, and they’re a good, experienced team in this league. There were a few times that we had to thank our goalkeeper, but like I say, I’m over the moon with the win."
First Division South:
Steve Rogers, of Allscott Heath (Cammell Laird 1907 2-4 Allscott Heath)
"We put on a convincing and fully deserved win yesterday. It's been coming for a while, and I’m really pleased that it came. We probably could have scored a couple more to be fair, but a big win away from home will hopefully give the lads some confidence to kick on now."
Declan Swan, of Sandbach United (Sandbach United 3-1 Market Drayton Town)
"It was a great reaction from our lads after going behind, and getting the goals before half time certainly helped settle us down and play some really good football. We will be looking forward to the FA Vase game away to higher opposition next Saturday now."
Adam Wall, of Stafford Town (Foley Meir 2-4 Stafford Town)
"I thought Saturday was a mixed bag. We dominated most of the game possession-wise and we were excellent in the first half, but we felt that we became too comfortable in the second half, and Foley came at us to be fair to them. However, it's 8 wins on the bounce, so we’ve not got too much to complain about."
