As I write this, we have no fewer than twelve clubs with new managers as we move towards the start of the 24/25 season. These are:

  • Abbey Hey: Simon Heaton
  • Alsager Town: Luke Goddard
  • Ashville : Stephen Scott
  • Cheadle Town: Jake Davies
  • Colne: Stuart Mellish
  • Darwen FC: Andy Harrison
  • Garstang: Guy Heffernan
  • Prestwich Heys: Russ Saunders and Matty Russell
  • Pilkington: Jack Edwards
  • Skelmersdale United: Tommy Lawson
  • West Didsbury & Chorlton: Paul Marshall
  • Winsford United: Dean Jones and Dominic Johnson

That covers 20% of the teams across all of our three divisions.

Good luck to all of them!

Of our existing managers, there are a few who should reach milestones during the coming season:

  • Ashton Athletics’ Jay Foulds needs just eight more to reach an incredible 500 games in charge.
  • Longridge Town's Lee Ashcroft needs twenty-one games to reach 400
  • Holker Old Boys' duo of Kevin Watkin and Dave Round need three more to get to 200, and Squires Gate’s Luke Evans is just ten short of the same milestone.
  • Several managers will have the chance to break the century
    • Steve Rogers at new boys Allscott Heath is sixteen short.
    • Kev Towey at Ashton Town needs twenty-two.
    • FC Isle of Man’s Paul Jones is thirty short.
    • Sam Golden at Foley Meir needs thirty one.

Our manager with the most games in charge is Dave Pace at Droylsden. We know he has 1,022 league games and 67 in the FA Cup – we are still tracking down his others.

Our own Brent Peters at Bacup Borough has at least 1,032 games to his credit.

We're sure to see more milestones passed and likely some records broken in 2024/25!
