Following a recent meeting of the FA Leagues Committee, it has been confirmed that Shelley FC have been promoted back to Step Six and have been placed in the North West Counties League Division One North.
The statement from The FA Reads.... "The matter of Shelley FC’s promotion was presented to representatives of the Leagues Committee through the Chair. It was agreed that Shelley FC will be promoted to Step 6 in line with the other promotion candidates who finished in the top 5. It has therefore been agreed on assessment of the options that Shelley FC will be placed in the North West Counties League Division One North for Season 2023-24."
Shelley were last with us until September 2020, when they resigned from the League at the height of the pandemic, having been with us for a couple of years. They had a good season in the West Yorkshire League, ultimately finishing fifth, and in a promotion position after a last day of drama that had seen them in seventh position going into the final game day.
Division One North will now have 19 teams for the 2023-24 season. We look forward to welcoming Shelley FC back to the League at our AGM in June.
