Kyle Haslam of Wythenshawe Amateurs has been presented with his Reusch Goalkeeper of the Month award.

League Management Committee Member Jeff Voller caught up with Kyle at a recent Wythenshawe Amateurs home game to present him with his award.

This is what was said about him when the announcement was made.

FIRST DIVISION SOUTH - KYLE HASLEM (WYTHENSHAWE AMATEURS)

Winning the First Division South Goalkeeper of the Month for the second time is Kyle Haslam, who also collected the award for Wythenshawe Amateurs in January 2022.

The Ammies have enjoyed a successful October, five unbeaten in league and league cup games. The team also played in the Lancashire FA County Cup, however keeper Kyle Haslam didn’t play, giving an opportunity for one of our other keepers to gain match time. Kyle was ever present in the October five match league and league cup unbeaten run, making vital saves in each game.

He ensured we progressed into the next rounds of the Edward Case and Macron Cups, both going to penalty shootouts, following goalless draws, great saves v. New Mills, and an equally great save v. Maine Road. We narrowly beat Barnton away, Kyle faced a one on one, got a hand to hit, palming around the post, ensuring maximum points. We ended Cheadle Town’s 12 unbeaten run, 8 consecutive win, Kyle keeping them at bay.

Kyle has five clean sheets in all five games he has played in October, bringing his total to ten clean sheets for the season already. Kyle would be the first to point out that this is a team performance and not about any individual performance, but, with respect, it would be wrong to ignore his contribution to the team’s achievements in reaching the levels they have. He distributes from the back, the team ready to move forward.

He has shown and demonstrated a consistent level of exemplary keeping, confident and commands his area, a calming influence. He is ever present at all the training sessions, helping and coaching other keepers, a true inspiration for his team mates.

He is a worthy winner for October with his record of clean sheets and important countless saves being second to none.
