New Fixtures Added To Website

Revised fixtures for all three NWCFL Division from Saturday 19th December to the end of January have this morning been added to the website.

Since the initial fixtures were released, the schedule has been disrupted somewhat, largely due to the effects of Covid-19. Some fixtures have been postponed due to players testing positive for Covid-19, some have been reversed, some clubs have not been able to use their grounds or dressing rooms, plus we have had the month long lockdown which ended on 3rd December.

Towards the end of lockdown, the Government announced that no spectators would be allowed in Tier 3 areas, as well as clubs in Tier 2 unable to serve food or drink at matches inside their grounds, obviously an important source of income. The majority of clubs said that they cannot afford to restart the season if games were to be played behind closed doors, and an Emergency League Management Committee meeting held on the evening of Friday 27th November saw the decision made to suspend fixtures until 19th December pending the Government's review of the tiers system on the 16th December.

Given the upheaval, we have made a decision to go back to the compiler of this seasons fixtures, who had offered to reconfigure the fixtures as required. This will ensure that the longer distanced games will be more likely to go ahead on a Saturday, and will ensure a more equal home and away pattern for all clubs.

Midweek games have been put in for all clubs from the start of January, and whilst we recognise that some games will be lost to the weather, we feel that it is better to put these games on and have to postpone them than to lose the chance to play them.

Fixtures will likely be released on a month by month basis, with February's fixtures released when we are in January.

Finally at our recent League Management Committee meeting, we passed a motion to allow a concession for certain clubs to play their home fixtures on their opponents grounds. This would only be whilst their home grounds are under Local Authority restrictions which prevent the use of dressing rooms and not allowing spectators, and will only be for clubs who play on Local Authority grounds.

The clubs concerned are: Litherland Remyca, Skelmersdale United, Pilkington, St Helens Town and possibly Steeton.
