On Friday 4th May, Ramsbottom United held their Presentation Night and Sportsman's Dinner in the appropriately-named Championship Room at the neighbouring Cricket Club.

As well as enjoying a four-course meal, and excellent entertainment from former Liverpool and Chelsea player Joey Jones and comedian Bobby Bender, those present at the well-attended function were treated to an impromptu speech from club Chairman Harry Williams.

Harry expressed his pride in the achievements of the players in winning the North West Counties League Championship, and reflected on his decision three years ago to appoint  Ramsbottom players, Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley as joint-managers. They had promised him promotion in three years, and after finishing fourth in their first campaign and second last year, they have proved to be true to their word.

The prospect of playing at the higher level Evo-Stik League was one everyone at the club was looking forward to, and Harry expects the team to be at aiming for the top end of the Northern Division. During the summer, a new stand is to be erected at the Railway end of the already well-appointed Riverside ground.

Programme Editor and Webmaster, Richard Isaacs, who had travelled 250 miles from his home to be there, presented framed photographs of the championship-winning celebrations to Chairman Harry, Joint Managers Bernard and Anthony, and also club captain Andy Dawson.

The winners on the night were:

Clubman of the Year” – GLENN MOSES, who joined the Rams coaching team last summer, after a spell as Manager at Atherton LR, and whose influence and knowledge has assisted Bernard and Anthony to put out a team playing such attractive football.

Players Player of the Year” – GRANT SPENCER, who, as a 19 year old, also joined the club last summer, from now-defunct neighbours Rossendale United. Grant's performances as the season wore on, have been superb, and a major contributory factor in the team's success.

Supporters Player of the Year” – ANDY DAWSON, who has been with the club during the last three seasons, and whose strength and dominance at the heart of the defence has helped the club keep an amazing 19 clean sheets throughout the season.

After the function, a number of the playing staff and management ventured on an end-of-season weekend break to Newquay.
