Back in November The Midlands League and ourselves released a joint statement highlighting our concerns about the fluid geographical boundaries that define the borders between leagues causing concerns.

At the Bescot Stadium in Walsall on Tuesday, The NWCFL, represented by League Chairman, Chris Stirrup, Secretary John Deal and League Director, Gary Langley met with Senior representatives of The Midlands League, The United Counties League and The FA.

The meeting brought together a small number of leagues who after initial tentative discussions found that we all continue to have similar concerns about Club allocations, the sustainability of leagues and divisions, with Clubs having increasing costs for transport. We also discussed club resources and the increasing demands on volunteers in the Volunteer football workforce. What became apparent in this meeting is that we all share common concerns and whilst initial proposals are in their infancy, all parties are happy to continue and increase dialogue.

The FA representatives, including James Earl, Head of the National League System also took on board and addressed a number of concerns raised and we welcome James’ input. It is clear that The FA are keen to support and develop a sustainable National League System and we look forward over continued discussions to see how we can all support the continued development of the pyramid and feasible geographical representation.
