We were delighted to catch up with Runcorn Town at their home game with Alsager Town on Tuesday, who have been winners of the First Division South PST Sport Club of the Month award in December, January and February. A run of 10 away games in their last 11 games for Runcorn has meant no opportunity to present their awards until this point.

League Chairman Chris Stirrup took a trip to Runcorn for the game, and before kick off he presented all three awards to joint managers Darren Moore and Liam Page who are pictured alongside the rest of the backroom staff.

In December, Runcorn played three games with the first being a midweek trip to Wolverhampton Sporting Community. Shaquille Lewys opened the scoring for Runcorn with Wolves quickly levelling. Thomas Ruffer restored the lead on 25 minutes only for Wolves to again level on the half hour. In a thrilling first half, it was Runcorn who went into half time a goal ahead as Liam Kennington's penalty once again gave them the lead. The win was wrapped up in the second half with Lewys getting his second of the game.

The next two games at New Mills and at home to Stockport Georgians were both postponed due to waterlogged pitches, so next up was a top of the table clash at home to second placed Eccleshall. It was the Staffordshire side who settled quickly and after just 14 minutes they found themselves 2-0 up. However Runcorn hit back with two goals from Matthew Vickers before the half hour, with Sam Flower putting Runcorn ahead on 37 minutes. Eccleshall showed why they are so high in the table with an equaliser at the start of the second half, only for Flower to hit the winner with his second of the game with nine minutes to go.

Once again Runcorn saw a postponed game with their midweek trip to Wolverhampton Casuals postponed, so the final game of the month for them came on Boxing Day at Barnton. In a close game, Liam Kennington put them ahead from the penalty spot after 56 minutes before Jamie Alty added a second on 69 minutes to give them a 2-0 win.

That gave Runcorn 11 points in December from their 3 games for a 3.67 average.

In January, Runcorn once again had a 100% record in the league in the month, playing three games in the month with two emphatic victories in the league and progression in the Edward Case Cup.

The first game was a home game against Shawbury United. It was a close game for much of the first half with Connor Spiers grabbing the only goal of the half four minutes before the break. Spiers then added a second goal eight minutes into the second half, with an Own Goal ten minutes later giving Runcorn a comfortable lead. It wasn't until four minutes from time that Runcorn added a fourth through Charlie Harland, and they scored twice in stoppage time to complete the scoring.

First Gary Robinson found the net a minute into time added on, and three minutes later Harland grabbed his second of the game to give his side a 6-0 win.

A week later Runcorn travelled down to Market Drayton Town, and returned with their eight successive league win after another high scoring win. Jamie Apperley opened the scoring on 14 minutes and added another on 26 minutes. Goals from Connor Spiers and Kieran Alley inside two minutes then put Runcorn firmly in control with a four goal lead at the break.

Nine minutes into the second half, Charlie Harland made it five before Liam Kennington added the sixth from the penalty spot just before the hour mark. It wasn't until the last minute that the next goal came with Matty Vickers securing a 7-0 win.

The final game of the month saw Runcorn travel to Sandbach United in the Quarter Final of the Edward Case Cup. A tighter game this time around with nothing to separate the sides at the break. Jamie Apperley then put Runcorn ahead two minutes into the second half with Connor Spiers adding a second on 55 minutes. It remained that way until three minutes into stoppage time with Joe Bevan netting a consolation from the penalty spot.

That gave Runcorn 11 points again in January from their 3 games for another 3.67 average.
