PREMIER DIVISION

The North West Counties League Premier Division Goalkeeper of the Month Award for December 2025 has gone to Ryan Forde of Wythenshawe. Its the second time Ryan has won this award in four months after winning it in September.

Ryan came through at National League side Altrincham, playing one game for Avro in the Manchester Cup in 2021. His first club in the NWCFL was Alsager Town who he played for in 2022/23 before moving to Cheadle Heath Nomads at the start of 2023/24. He remained at Cheadle for two seasons until moving to Wythenshawe at the start of this season.

The first game in December saw title rivals Ramsbottom United visit. It was a game of few chances, with Ryan producing some outstanding saves to see his side over the line. Ammies ran out 2-0 winners, with Ryan rewarded for his efforts with a clean sheet.

Next up was a trip to City of Liverpool, with Ammies putting in a professional performance in a 2-1 win. Ryan was unlucky not to keep a clean sheet here, conceding the only goal with nine minutes to go but one he could do little to prevent.

The third game was a tough game away back in Merseyside at AFC Liverpool, with the Reds nine games unbeaten coming into the game. Wythenshawe were rampant, winning 5-1, with the confidence starting at the back through Ryan whose encouragement and outstanding distribution gives confidence throughout the team. Again he was unlucky not to keep a clean sheet, with the only goal conceded coming from the penalty spot.

Ryan's worth to the team becomes apparant in the games against other leading teams, and like the first game against Rammy, Ryan was on form against West Didsbury & Chorlton on Boxing Day. Again he pulled off several vital saves to keep West at bay, with Ryan named Man of the Match in a 1-0 win, that clean sheet being his 15th of the season so far.

Despite his young years, Ryan's worth around the club is immesurable. He is an inspiration to other keepers at our club, helping and supporting them. He has also won the support from supporters, reflected in some youths wearing a replica keeper shirt on a matchday.

Four games in the month for Ryan, with two clean sheets and just two goals conceded.

Congratulations to Ryan on his Award!

FIRST DIVISION NORTH

The Goalkeeper of the Month award for the First Division North for December 2025 has gone to Morgan Newns of Darwen. This is the second time Goalkeeper award for Darwen this season after Louis Hood won it in September, and the second for Morgan himself having previously winning this award for Daisy Hill in March 2022.

Morgan switched to Darwen from Daisy Hill in October, having made over 100 appearances for the Cutters over the previous four seasons. He has also appeared in the NWCFL for Charnock Richard, Northwich Victoria and West Didsbury & Chorlton.

The month started for Morgan with an away trip to Ashton Athletic on 6th December in a game played at Ashton Town. Morgan made a two vital stops in the first half to keep Darwen ahead, and could do nothing to stop Ashton's late fightback in a 2-2 draw as Darwen capitulated. Some personal consolation is that he was named Man of the Match in that game.

Next up was Holker Old Boys at home, with the Cumbrians finding themselves two goals ahead early on. Morgan again made some vital saves as Darwen fought back to lead 3-2, but a goal six minutes into stoppage time from a goalmouth scramble gave Holker a share of the spoils.

The final game for Morgan in December came on Boxing Day against Nelson, with the Admirals taking an early lead. Newns was in fine form to keep his side in it, making two vital stops towards the end of the half plus a penalty save but Nelson went in two goals ahead at the break. The second half saw Nelson see out the game to win, with Morgan again named Man of the Match in the game.

Three games played, seven goals conceded but two clean Man of the Match awards for Morgan, such was his contribution in those games.

Well done Morgan!

FIRST DIVISION SOUTH

The winner of the December 2025 Goalkeeper of the Month Award for the First Division South is Sean Draper of Ashville. It is the first time Sean has won this award, and the first for Ashville since Michael Dixon won it for them in October 2023.

Sean came is at the start of his football journey having focused on his education, although he has represented the excellent Winstanley College and has gone on to play for the University of Liverpool. In club football, he played for Ashton Town U21 and made two appearances for the First Team. This season he joined Ashville in pre-season, and after breaking into the First Team in September, has made the postition his own.

After the Telford game was postponed, the first game was at home to New Mills. Sean pulled off a couple of vital saves in the first half to keep it goalless. These saves proved vital as a late goal gave them a 1-0 win, with Sean keeping his first clean sheet in eight games.

Next was a home game with Stafford Town. With a prolific attack, Stafford took an early lead, with Sean making two good saves, one in particular from a close range shot just before half time. Again it proved pivotal, with a goal in the second half giving Ashville a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

The final game came on Boxing Day with the local derby at home to Cammell Laird 1907. Both sides cancelled each other out in this game, with Sean keeping his second clean sheet in three games as the game ended goalless.

Three games played for Sean last month, with two clean sheets and just one goal conceded.

Congratulations Sean!
