The draw for the Final Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup has been made with two NWCFL sides still in it. It was made live on TalkSport2 radio with the ties as follows:

KIDDERMINSTER HARRIERS v CONGLETON TOWN or AFC FYLDE

CLITHEROE or BURY AFC v YORK CITY

Congleton will travel to another National League North side in Kidderminster Harriers should they win their replay. Kidderminster are currently 5th in the league, and have a strong FA Cup pedigree having reached the last 16 back in 1993/94 when they lost to West Ham United. Last season they had an equally strong run, reaching the Fourth Round Proper, beating Reading before losing to West Ham again. They have only faced a NWCFL once in the past, that back in the 1985/86 season when they played Leek Town in the Staffordshire Senior Cup!

Bury AFC will host National League York City should they win their replay. York City won promotion last season to the top tier of the Non-League game via the playoffs and have started well, sitting in 9th place at present. As a former Football League side they are no strangers to the FA Cup, reaching the Semi Finals back in 1954/55. More recently they have faced NWCFL in the competition, winning at Ashton Athletic in 2018/19, Irlam in 2019/20 and Warrington Rylands in 2020/21.

Sides will win £9,375 with victory with losers picking up £3,125. However the prospect of a place in the First Round Proper is the real prize.

Congleton Town and Bury AFC both begain in the Extra Preliminary Round of the competition, and after progressing through fiour rounds, have found themselves in the draw following 1-1 draws at the weekens.

The Bears played host to National League North side AFC Flyde, who supporters may remember were in our league from 2006 to 2008 under their old guise of Kirkham and Wesham. This was selected by the BBC as the Live TV game with a 12.30pm kick off and it did not disappoint.

With just 15 minutes to go, a free kick from Ryan Read was helped on by Tom Pope with Daniel Needham looping the ball into the net. Needham had an excellent chance to secure victory as the clock hit 90 minutes after substitute George Sankey played him in, but his shot was well saved. It proved a crucual miss with Nick Haughton, who played for Runcorn Town back in the 2013/14 season, curling in an equaliser two minutes into stoppage time.

Richard Duffy, Manager of Congleton Town, said of the game "It was a great day for the club and community which I’m proud of the performance from the lads and we gave a good account of ourselves live on TV. It was disappointing to concede so late on having had a good chance to go through minutes earlier, but that's football I guess. We go again on Tuesday in the replay away at Flyde which will be tough of course, but on our day we can beat anyone. We've matched them once, and we have to do it all over again now."

Bury AFC are in their inaugural FA Cup campaign, and were given the BBC treatment in their last round against North Shields. On Saturday, it was the routine 3.00pm kick off for them as they travelled up to Northern Premier League West side Clitheroe. Having beaten Widnes and Lancaster City as well as North Shields in previous rounds, all of whom were from higher leagues, Bury AFC would have been confident going into the game that they could record another scalp.

They fell behind in the game to Mac Cane's goal after just ten minutes of the game, but they more than matched their opponents Matty Williams crossed to the near post where Connor Comber poked the ball home. There were no further goals with the replay taking place on Wednesday evening.

Bury Manager Andy Welsh said "Saturday was another excellent day for our club. Another very tough game awaits at home to clitheroe as they are a very strong side as we saw on Saturday. We look forward to the replay on Wednesday which gives a chance for our club to come together and create another amazing atmosphere in another exciting cup tie".

Andrew Corns, Matchday Secretary at Bury AFC, echoed many Bury supporters who have been captivated by this FA Cup run, saying "I think it would be remiss to quote just on the draw alone away at Clitheroe which showed the fighting spirit within the team after going behind in the 10th minute of the game. This is our fifth round game and our 3rd replay, whilst only one round was against a team from our level. Since that Extra Preliminary Round, we have played three rounds against teams from Step 4 and one round against Step 3 opponents. Bury fans are loving the non-league journey.

"This is Bury AFC first foray in the FA Cup, venturing further in the FA Cup than some more established clubs in Step 4 and 5. It is an achievement that everyone involved with the club can be extremely proud of. Well done to Andy, coaching staff, the players, the volunteers, and the fans for being part of this incredibly journey.

"We hope we can be representing the NWCFL in the Final Qualifying Round after Wednesday's replay. I would also like to add on behalf of everybody connected with Bury AFC, we would like to wish Congleton good luck in their replay too."
