Chair’s Christmas Message

On behalf of the Directors and Management Committee of The North West Counties Football League I would like to wish all the volunteers, management teams, players, match officials and supporters a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

This year has been extremely busy for everyone involved in the League, and I would like to take the opportunity to mention the unsung heroes behind the League and our clubs, who help things run smoothly on and off the field of play. Without these people, the League and a lot of the clubs would not be existence. So, while many of us will take the opportunity to relax and spend time with our family and friends, spare a though for the volunteers who will be working throughout the Christmas period, preparing pitches and facilities for the games over the festive period. Pitches need preparing, not helped by the relentless British weather, kits need washing and food prepared among the other thousands of tasks undertaken each week.

If you are attending a game over Christmas, please bear this message in mind and show your appreciation to everyone involved in our clubs for the work they do. It is easy to be critical, especially when things might not be going well on the pitch, but remember, the majority of us do this for the love of the game and without the volunteers and match officials there would be no game.

I would like to thank everyone involved with the League and with our clubs for the work you do in making the League successful.

Yours in Sport

Paul Lawler
