A reduced programme of fixtures in the Premier Division this weekend with only seven games scheduled, one on Friday and six on Saturday.

The weekend kicks off on Friday evening with the East Lancashire derby clash between Nelson and Colne at Victoria Park.

Nelson, who are in 8th place and have won three out of their last four games, face 4th placed Colne, who lost at Ashton Athletic on Tuesday having won their previous  ten league games - a run which started on 27th December with a 2-0 home win against Nelson.

With Glossop North End on FA Vase duty on Saturday, leaders Runcorn Linnets will be looking to extend their 11 game unbeaten run and increase their 8 point lead at the top when they host 7th placed Squires Gate, with whom they drew 1-1 at the seaside earlier in the month.

Ashton Athletic in 5th place, fresh from ending Colne’s winning run on Tuesday, host 11th placed AFC Liverpool and will be looking to break into the top three with a victory. When the two teams met in August there was nothing to separate them in a 1-1 draw.

6th placed Bootle, who returned to winning ways on Tuesday beating Winsford United 2-1, visit bottom of the table Bacup & Rossendale Borough, who despite losing their last two games, have shown improvement in form recently, winning two and drawing two of their last eight league games.

Bacup will be hoping to avoid a repeat of the 5-0 defeat they suffered at Bootle in January.

One place above Bacup, Barnoldswick Town will be able to move out of the relegation zone with a win, or draw, at Winsford United, leapfrogging St Helens Town, who have no game.

Barlick have drawn twice and lost three times since they last won a game on 14th February (against St Helens Town), and included in that run was a 1-1 draw at home to Winsford United, who themselves have not won in their last six games.

Silsden (10th) host West Didsbury & Chorlton (14th) in a mid-table encounter. The home side returned to winning ways last Saturday winning 1-0 at home to AFC Liverpool, having not won for five league games, while West have won two out of their last three games after losing six on the trot.  The two sides have not previously played each other this season.

The weekend’s Premier Division programme is completed by a Cheshire derby at Booth Street when Congleton Town (9th) and Alsager Town (16th) meet for the first time this season. Congleton lost last Saturday at Nelson bringing to an end their five game winning run, while Alsager have lost their last four league games.
