League Statement On Fixtures
Mon 18th January 2016 | Announcements | By Ian Templeman
With the recent disruption to League fixtures as a result of the bad weather, the League Management Committee last week discussed at length the current position with regard to fixtures.
The following decisions were made, and details have been issued to all member clubs.
County FA Cup Ties:
Clubs will only be released from a League fixture for County FA Cup Competition on the County FA Conference date. Any postponed or replayed match MUST be arranged on a date that does not interfere with a League fixture.
Clubs playing in a secondary County or non Parent County FA Cup Competition will not be released from a League fixture.
In the circumstances above, Clubs would be expected to play their County FA Cup tie on a Thursday.
League Cup Competitions:
Any postponed or replayed matches MUST be arranged on or before the following Thursday as per Cup Rule 9 or in exceptional circumstances the following Saturday.
Exceptional circumstances means a distance from ground to ground that the Board consider inappropriate for a mid-week evening fixture. This is purely at the discretion of the Board.
Semi Finals:
A decision on whether the semi finals would be played over one or two legs and played mid week or on a Saturday was deferred to the next Management Committee meeting, when a clearer picture with regard to available dates would available.
League Fixtures:
Concern was raised over the number of postponements and the discrepancy of the matches played between the Club playing the most games and those playing the least games in each Division.
Clubs were reminded that they have a responsibility to fulfil their fixtures by the end of season date (30th April) and the Fixture Secretary has been instructed to rearrange postponed fixtures starting mid-week during February.
It was also felt that a firmer application to the arrangement of fixtures was required and that a possible fixture policy introduced.
