Despite a busy FA Cup programme this weekend there is a comprehensive fixture line up for Division One sides as the busy start to the league season continues.

Barnton head the First Division Table at present and they play host to Stockport Town at Townfield.

Stockport Town recorded a decent looking 3-2 home win over fancied Bacup last Saturday and have got off to a steady start to their North West Counties League life with some performances that have been as impressive as their early results but Barnton will be their toughest test yet.

Barnton comprehensively saw off previously unbeaten Holker up in Cumbria last weekend, with their strikers Shaun Tuck and Kevin Towey leading their charge in a 4-1 win which really sent a statement of intent out to other perspective challengers.

The only side left with a 100% League record are St Helens Town who face Rochdale Town at Brocstedes Park.

St Helens will be looking to continue their good league form after a good 3-1 win over Irlam last weekend, that game was the first NWCFL meeting between the two clubs.

Mark Canning’s Rochdale side got a first win under their belt last weekend with an impressive 2-1 win at Eccleshall and they will be looking to push on and build on the momentum of that win.

Two sides without a win so far are Chadderton and Daisy Hill, and both of these sides come head to head at Andrew Street.

Chadderton will still be reeling from their last home game, the 9-2 home defeat in the FA Cup to AFC Liverpool and they will be looking to put that right at the next attempt.

Daisy Hill will probably be happy of an away game as five of their six league games so far have been at home and they have conceded 21 goals, scoring only 4, their latest game being a 3-1 reverse at the New Sirs to Litherland Remyca last Monday.

On the subject of the Remy’ they host Cheadle Town at Litherland Sports Park this weekend with both sides on nine points and three wins from four games, whilst Town have played five games and are still unbeaten in the league campaign so far.

Cheadle have scored most goals in the division so far with 16, but Remyca have recently found their scoring form but still have only a +3 goal difference at this early stage and will be looking to improve on that if they are to maintain an early challenge.

Bacup Borough will be looking for an upturn in form having secured only the one point so far in league action.

Borough host Northwich Manchester Villa who recorded a decent 3-0 home win over Atherton LR at the Manchester Regional Arena last weekend, and the win came with a decent hard working performance.

Whitchurch Alport continue in their first League campaign after a steady start so far, and they play host to Atherton LR at Yockings Park.

Alport have two draws and two defeats up to now but those defeats have been narrow, and they have adapted well to the new level.

Atherton LR have had an inconsistent start to date with two wins and three defeats, and they will be looking to bounce back from their defeat at Northwich Manchester Villa last weekend. They have travelled well up to now and this should make for a decent game.

Irlam face Widnes at Silver Street and both have had a fairly steady start too.

Irlam are one of eight sides currently on nine points near the top end of the table, and they will be looking to stay at the business end of the table.

Widnes as yet have not recorded a win, but have not been that far off in their four games, and are averaging two goals a game, so will be more than capable of causing Irlam problems and progressing up the table.

Another side who have got off to a good start are Ashton Town, and after a good away win at previously unbeaten Litherland Remyca last weekend, they are another side on nine points near the top and with early momentum behind them.

Town face Eccleshall at the MSO Ashton Town Stadium and the Staffordshire side will be looking to kick-start their own campaign having had a reasonable pre-season but up to now have been unable to convert that into league points.

It is a busy weekend around the first division, and with the weather set-fair and next weekend dominated by the FA Carlsberg Vase First Qualifying Round, all clubs will be looking to rack up the points before the knock-out competitions start entering the footballing schedule.
