Barnton have announced the appointment of former player Allan Glover as manager.

Glover arrives to replace Andy Burgess, who resigned from the position last week.

He has coached at Runcorn Town, Runcorn Linnets, Everton and Chester City whilst also managing Cheshire Schoolboys for the last eight years.

Glover said: "I am really looking forward to working with the players and building upon the progress made by Andy previously. I believe we have a strong group of players and are in a good position to compete for a play-off position. Hopefully we can also recruit a few key individuals to support the group over the coming months.

"Chris Lawton has agreed to join the club as my player/assistant and will join from Wednesday next week and brings lots of experience at this level.

"Leon Knight, who I'm delighted to say has agreed to stay on at the club in a coaching capacity, will give us a massive amount of experience and know-how that will really improve our young players.

"I'd like to thank Simon Burton and Daniel Salt at Runcorn Town for a great opportunity over the past eighteen months. I found it difficult to leave having had such great experiences in the FA Cup and Vase runs this season.

"However, the opportunity to manage Barnton was too good an opportunity to turn down. I'd like to wish them all the best for the season."

Chairman Ian Ross said: "Myself and the board are naturally delighted with Allan's appointment. We're confident he's the right man to take the club onto the next level over the coming seasons.

"I would like to pass on my sincere thanks to Simon Burton at Runcorn Town, who has helped us make our appointment of Allan go as smoothly as possible, despite his obvious disappointment at losing him."
