Despite the league season starting in early August, the British weather once again played its part in the big kick off. After a period of hot sunny weather, it is typical the day the season kicked off was blighted by heavy rain storms which hit the North West on Saturday. Squires Gate photographer, Albert Cooper, captured the downpours perfectly during his sides away game at Bootle.
Luckily, no games were lost as a result but League Fixture Secretary John Reid will hope the weather doesn't play too much of a role in the fixture list against this season.
