Shaquille Makes A Posh Impact

Former Alsager Town player Shaquille McDonald is making an impression in the professional ranks after recently signing a two year professional contract with Peterborough United.
Shaquille played five games for the Bullets during November and December, scoring twice in a 4-1 win against Ashton Athletic, before moving to London Road. He has been on the bench for recent first team games after making a big impression in youth and reserve team outings, and bagged four goals last week in an Under 18s game that saw the Posh win 6-4 at Crawley Town.
His four goal haul against Crawley has taken his total to 11 goals in 7 games at reserve and youth level, and his performance impressed the Posh Under 18’s manager Gavin Strachan, son of Scotland manager Gordon Strachan.
“I was really pleased with all the team (in the game against Crawley), but with McDonald in particular”, Strachan told the Peterborough United website. “He took all four goals brilliantly and it is easy to take your eye off the ball when you get good news, but he actually improved. He scored two headers and sometimes people underestimate him because of height.
"From a standing jump he can generate a good height and get good power and direction on his headers. He has scored four good goals and had another couple of chances. He’s a positive player and things are always happening around him”.
Alsager Town Press Officer John Shenton said: “Shaquille has made a massive impression since his arrival initially on a short term scholarship deal at Peterborough back in December. He has been the bench twice in the last few weeks and it'll be only a matter of time before he graces the Championship.
“From the North West Counties Premier League to the Championship in the space of less than 5 months - what a great story!
“Our manager Andy Turner is now in the process of negotiating a pre-season friendly against Peterborough United at the ' LAW Training' Stadium”.
