By Gary Langley

The NWCFL Vice-Chairman Geoff Wilkinson has had a look at this weekends fixtures and in his own style has cast his eye across a number of factors.

Before starting this week-ends preview a few guidance notes.....

Spectators from clubs in Covid Tier 3 areas should not travel to their teams’ away games.

Managers and coaches are reminded that masks should be worn in the technical area at all time, and only a maximum of two should be standing at any one time. Sorry to put it on the web site but the instructions to clubs does not appear to reach many of the managers & coaches. Apologies to those who have complied.

Due to Covid-19 complications the following additional matches have been postponed.

Premier Division: Longridge Town v. Warrington Rylands

First Division North: Bacup Borough v. Pilkington

Right, let's have a look at the games that at present are scheduled to take place....

FA Cup – The Leagues only survivors Skelmersdale United are away to Stafford Rangers. Good Luck and here’s hoping you make the First Round proper. The former sleeping giants appear to have had a lease of life and good luck at Stafford Rangers.

Premier Division – Match of the day looks like Avro v Congleton Town, two of the top three teams, Warrington Rylands are away at Longridge Town

Leaders Winsford United take on Litherland REMYCA.  Barnoldswick Town will be hoping to stop the goal feast against them from last week-end (8 against) against Hanley Town (who scored 8 away from home last weekend so it should be a good test for both sides.

Bootle take on Squires Gate with both teams recording their first win of the season in their respective midweek games.  Bootle came away from Charnock Richard with a handsome 4-1 win whilst Squires Gate also netted four goals, those were against 1874 Northwich.

Irlam take on Charnock Richard, both teams disappointed from their midweek defeats whilst Padiham are at home to 1874 Northwich who will also be keen to bounce back from their defeat at Squires Gate.

Runcorn Town take on Ashton Athletic who struggled in midweek following their two week break due to Covid issues.

Rounding up the Premier Division we have Whitchurch Alport taking on Northwich Victoria, both teams adding to their squads in mid-week.

First Division North – Three of the top 4 teams at home, top of the table Bacup Borough (when was the last time that was in print? (Apologies Brent), they take on Pilkington, a repeat of first game of the season in The FA Vase which resulted in a close win for Bacup. Two young teams making their way.

Second place Golcar United are hosts to Lower Breck who will be hoping to reach last season’s heights.

Third place Cleator Moor Celtic are at home to Matt Barnes young squad at Prestwich Heys.

Two close-ish derbies with Daisy Hill taking on managerless Ashton Town and Atherton LR at home to St Helens Town.

Both AFC’c Darwen and Liverpool at home to Chadderton and Steeton respectively.

First Division South – League leaders Vauxhall Motors are at Ellesmere Rangers and second placed Wythenshawe Town also away at Abbey Hulton United.

A resurgent Barnton side take on Abbey Hey whilst Eccleshall will be hoping the defence can recover from last week’s defeat against Cheadle Heath Nomads.

Maine Road are at Brantingham Road versus New Mills, both teams hoping to climb the table.

A youthful Stockport Town side take on St Martins and the final two games West Didsbury & Chorlton against Alsager Town and Stone Old Alleynians are at home to Cammell Laird 1907.
