At Runcorn Town's recent home game against Winsford United, Runcorn midfielder Shaun Weaver was presented with his Macron Player of the Month award for January 2020 by League Management Committee member Martin Fallon.
Here is a reminder of why Shaun won the January award:
Runcorn Town captain Shaun Weaver is the Premier Division Player of the Month for January after a stunning month for the Premier Division side.
Shaun took over the captaincy of the team in mid-December with Simon Thelwell having increased work commitments, and ended 2019 by collecting Man-of-the-Match in his final two games of the year.
He has continued that form into January, with Runcorn playing six league games in the month and Shaun collecting Man-of-the-Match awards from the opposition in every single game he played. Eight successive Man of the Match awards is amazing in itself, and really showed the levels Shaun reached during the month!
Shaun's main attributes are his energy levels and determination to win every ball he challenges for. He puts himself all over the middle of the park, running from the first minute to the last, and no yellow cards in the month shows the fairness he displays when challenging the opposition.
There was no goals for Shaun in the month, the player happy to sit back and break up opposition counter attacks when Runcorn are attacking. However he did manage two direct assists, crossing for Dave Forbes to score at home to Avro and also winning a challenge before setting Forbes one-on-one with the keeper at home to Barnoldswick Town.
Congratulations to Shaun on winning this award.
