Just more than 48 hours after the weekend flurry of action, football returned to the NWCFL on Monday evening with the first of three nights of fixtures.
There were two games in the Manchester Premier Cup 1st Round and NWCFL sides from each fixture made it into the hat for the next round. Wythenshawe Town pulled off a super 2-1 win over Curzon Ashton, whilst Maine Road beat fellow NWCFL side Chadderton by the same scoreline.
Tuesday saw three fixtures in the NWCFL Premier Division. Three superb crowds on the night saw narrow one-goal wins for 1874 Northwich (2-1 winners over Congleton Town), Bootle (1-0 winners over Whitchurch Alport) and Northwich Victoria (2-1 away winners at Rylands).
The Manchester Premier Cup returned for the second consecutive night with a win for Avro against Irlam as they won 7-6 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. However, Abbey Hey was not as lucky though as they lost 4-2 to Mossley on penalties after a 1-1 draw, and West Didsbury & Chorlton were knocked out by Trafford 2-1 with 251 watching on.
Barnoldswick Town made it through in the West Riding County Cup 1st Round, beating former NWCFL side Silsden 2-0, whilst 556 fans witnessed a narrow 1-0 win for Golcar United against neighbours Shelley and Preswitch Heys beat Pilkington 4-0 in the First Division North to round off a superb night of action.
A late Louis Downs equaliser saw Cheadle Town and Eccleshall share the points in a 2-2 draw, whilst Runcorn Town beat Litherland REMYCA 4-1 in the Liverpool Senior Cup 2nd Round and New Mills won 2-0 away at Graham Street Primms in the Derbyshire Senior Cup 1st Round.
The action returns to the NWCFL on Saturday with The Buildbase FA Vase 1st Round Proper, the PlayerMatch.com Cup 2nd Round, NWCFL Premier Division, Cumberland Senior Cup 1st Round, NWCFL First Division North and the NWCFL First Division South.
