FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round Preview

The FA Cup is back - and there are a total of 24 NWCFL sides in action in the Extra Preliminary Round this weekend.

Seven of the clashes feature sides from the league going head-to-head, across Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Skelmersdale United kick off the action on Friday night when they host Penistone Church.

Paul McNally's team are unbeaten at the moment - picking up two draws from their opening two games.

The FA Cup itself will be on display when Longridge Town host Barnoldswick Town. Barnoldswick have one point from their opening two games while Longridge won their first game and lost in midweek to Irlam.

Michael Dodd's Irlam have four points from their opening two matches and host an Ashton Athletic who are above them in the table by goal difference.

Both Avro and Litherland REMYCA are still looking for their first win in the NWCFL this season, and they will clash in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round on Saturday.

REMYCA picked up a point against Irlam on opening day but lost 3-0 to Rylands mid-week, while Avro have lost both of their opening games to Longridge Town and Padiham.

Nick Matthews' Burscough beat Squires Gate in mid-week after defeat on the opening day and they will play AFC Liverpool who are without a win yet in their opening two games.

Squires Gate will look to bounce back from defeat to Burscough when they host an unbeaten West Didsbury & Chorlton - the side fifth in the First Division South.

Runcorn Town have one win and one defeat so far this season and they welcome Rylands to the Viridor Community Stadium. Rylands have won both of their opening games and are second in the Premier Division on goal difference.

Lower Breck's first FA Cup game will be at Mossie Park against Charnock Richard, who are 6th in the Premier Division after one win and one defeat.

Vauxhall Motors have won their opening two games in the First Division South and will face the challenge of a Premier Division side in the form of Winsford United who have won one and lost one.

Northwich Victoria won 1-0 on Wednesday against Congleton Town and they host former NWCFL side Silsden on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Congleton will look to right the wrongs on their defeat when they take on Westfields at the Cheshire Silk 106.9 Stadium.

Whilst Luke Goddard's Whitchurch Alport make the trip to Hellenic League Division One West side Malvern Town. 

Bootle have drawn both their opening games 1-1, with manager Joe Doran not concered about the results. They travel to Eccleshill United on Saturday.

Hanley Town were one of the teams to draw with Bootle, and after their 4-1 defeat to Whitchurch Alport they host Leicester Road at Potteries Park.

1874 Northwich are currently top of the Premier Division after two wins and they face a trip to Clitheroe.

Padiham will face Athersley Recreation away from home in their FA Cup clash, and Abbey Hey are also on the road away at Liversedge. 

Finally, on Sunday, First Division South side Stone Old Alleynians face a trip to Worcester City.
