West Seek New Manager

The club can confirm that David Powell has left his role as Men's manager with immediate effect, with his backroom staff of James Standing and Stuart Humphreys also leaving their roles.

Taking up his position in early December at a point where the club were 9 points adrift from safety, he and his management team we are able to immediately string together a run of five wins in seven games, including a memorable 6-0 boxing day victory over Abbey Hey. Over the course of his tenure, West achieved an impressive record of eight wins, one draw, and nine losses - something which saw the side take our relegation battle to the final day of the season, against the odds.

Following discussions it was felt that a new start was best for both parties, with biweekly travel from David Powell's home in West Lancashire being chief among the reasons why the management team came to the agreement to leave their positions by mutual consent. All at the club would like to thank them for their efforts and energies over the past 6 months, and would like to place on record their gratitude for taking us so close to survival in trying conditions - we wish them all the best for the future.

The club will now be recruiting for a manager for the 2019/20 season as the club begins its campaign in the North West Counties Football League First Division South. A job description can be found below:
