Excitement and drama at both ends of the Premier and First Division is guaranteed into the last week of the season, after the latest set of results at the weekend.

The Premier Division title race will go right down to the wire next Saturday, with victories for both Runcorn Linnets and Colne ensuring a final day title win for one of them next Saturday.

For now, Runcorn Linnets remain at the top after a 3-2 win at Squires Gate, in a game that remained goalless until the 49th minute when Michael White put Linnets ahead, but the main talking point from the afternoon was an incredible passage of play when four goals arrived in as many minutes just after the hour.

Kyle Hamid put Linnets two up, Jamie Gibson reduced the arrears two minutes later, Freddie Potter restored Linnets two goal lead straight away only for Gibson to hit back with his second goal of the afternoon.

Colne kept up the pressure with a 3-0 win over Cammell Laird 1907 at the XLCR Stadium.   Danny Boyle gave the Reds a half time lead, Jason Hart doubled the advantage from the penalty spot, and  Adam Morning added a third five minutes from the end.

Colne can now move into pole position two points ahead of Linnets if they win their final home game of the season against West Didsbury & Chorlton on Tuesday evening.  A draw in that game would leave Linnets and Colne level on points going into the final day of the season, with Colne having a two goal advantage on goal difference.

At the other end of the table, it's still a case of any three from five teams could go down, and some nerve jangling games will take place in the coming week for all of the five teams involved.

Silsden moved out of the drop zone with a vital 3-2 win at AFC Liverpool in a ding-dong affair.  After Marvin Molyneux put AFC Liverpool ahead, Nicholas McNally equalised before half time.

Danny Forrest then put the visitors ahead only for Brandon Gaskell to equalise, but within a minute Forrest had struck his second of the afternoon which proved to be decisive for the Cobbydalers.

It was a crucially important result for James Gill's men with Squires Gate, AFC Darwen and AFC Blackpool all losing.

Goals from Ryan Jackson, Stuart Wellstead and Michael Brandon earned 1874 Northwich a 3-0 win over AFC Blackpool, and although Bobby Langford struck twice for AFC Darwen, a double from Daniel Smith proved to be decisive in AFC Darwen's 3-2 home defeat to Ashton Athletic.

For the second time this season, a last minute goal clinched a 2-1 win for Atherton Collieries over Congleton Town, Mark Ayres grabbing the winner at Alder House.

Goals from Gary Lilley, Nic Evangelinos and Matt Eckersley saw West Didsbury & Chorlton through to a 3-0 win at Barnoldswick Town, and Aaron Taylor and Kieron Pickup were on target for Padiham in the 2-1 home win over Abbey Hey.

The only drawn game of the afternoon was at Little Wembley where Nathan Webb gave Nelson a half time lead against Maine Road, only for Michael Burke to rescue a point for Maine Road with an equaliser in the 54th minute.

In the First Division, the championship winners and final make up of the play offs have still be decided, although Hanley Town took what could be a significant step towards the title with a 1-0 win at Chadderton, thanks to a 5th minute goal from Lassana Sidibe.

Hanley's fellow title challengers Irlam completed their league programme by being held to a 1-1 draw at Atherton LR.  After falling behind to an Emmanuel Yoak goal on 57 minutes, Irlam got back on level terms with eight minutes remaining through an own goal, and despite laying sigeto the LR goal in the closing minutes, the home defence held firm.

Hanley Town now have two opportunities to clinch the title, and a win either at St Helens Town on Monday or Holker Old Boys next Saturday would see them crowned champions.

Barnton were already guaranteed to finish in the top play off spot, but their 3-2 home defeat against St Helens Town gave a huge boost to Town's hopes of securing a play off place.

Two goals from Kevin Pollard against one from Andrew Gillespie had the Villagers ahead at the break, but second half goals from Stephen Rigby and Daniel Greene secured an important win for Town, that moved them into fifth place.

Stockport Town were already assured a fourth place finish, and they warmed up for the play offs with a club record 7-0 win at Whitchurch Alport.  Nathan Neequaye grabbed a hat trick, and there were doubles for Joseph Armstrong and Mason Dunkley-Hamlin.

For now, Litherland REMYCA occupy the final play off place, and after goals from Colin McDonald and Jamie Colbourn  secured their 2-0 home win over Holker Old Boys that completed their league programme, they now have to sit back and watch the outcome of results involving four other clubs in the coming week before they know if they will finish in a play off position.

A last minute goal from Richard Whyatt earned Cheadle Town a 1-0 win at Daisy Hill that keeps their play off hopes alive, and another late goal from Anthony Hall ensured that Bacup Borough could also still land a play off place after a 2-1 win at Ashton Town.

There was a remarkable fifth hat trick of the season for Jonny Thompson as Rochdale Town beat Northwich Manchester Villa 5-0, and a last minute goal from Dean Twigg ensured a 2-1 win for Eccleshall at Widnes.
