At long last, the weather relented and all bar two games were completed in the latest round of fixtures at the weekend.

The much postponed Men United Cup 3rd Round tie between Ashton Athletic and 1874 Northwich was finally completed, and it went the full distance with Ashton Athletic eventually winning 8-7 on penalties. The sides were tied at 1-1 after 90 minutes and 2-2 after extra time.

In the Premier Division, it was a good afternoon for Runcorn Linnets, who extended their lead at the top of the table as nearest rivals Colne and Atherton Collieries lost ground.

Linnet won 3-1 at home to AFC Darwen, with new signing from AFC Liverpool Ryan Cox making an immediate impact with two goals on his debut.

Atherton Collieries stay second despite losing 2-1 at Abbey Hey, George Noon's winner for the home side arriving in the 90th minute, while Colne were held to a goalless draw at home to Squires Gate and are in third place, albeit with five games in hand on Linnets.

West Didsbury & Chorlton moved into fifth place with a 2-1 home win over Silsden, with first half goals from Nic Evangelinos and Ash Woods putting them in the driving seat, and it took an 88th minute winner from Nat Taylor to secure a 3-2 win for Nelson at home to Runcorn Town, after they had been two goals up at the interval.

A late equaliser from Josh Holden cancelled out an early goal from Barnoldswick Town's Ben Gorman to earn a 1-1 draw for Bootle at the Silentnight Stadium.

An impressive second half display from Winsford United saw them turn a half time 1-0 deficit into a 4-1 win at Cammell Laird 1907, and Congleton Town also scored four times, with Brian Matthews scoring twice in the 4-2 home win over Padiham.

Second half goals from Ben Seear and Charlie Waters earned AFC Blackpool an invaluable 2-0 home win over Maine Road that sees them now just three points clear of safety in the relegation zone.

However, Alsager Town remain bottom of the table after a 2-2 draw at home to AFC Liverpool. Two first half penalties from Tom Fogg had given the Bullets a two goal advantage at half time, but a second revival from the Reds, under new manager Kevin Dally was completed with an equaliser from Allen Weston 14 minutes from time.

In the First Division, Hanley Town's Matt German scored the only goal of the game 18 minutes from time to in the top of the table clash against Barnton, who remain top but now have a lead of just two points over Town, who have five games in hand.

Stockport Town are third after a 1-0 win in the derby clash at Cheadle Town, with Nathan Neequaye scoring the only goal of the game against his old club.

Holker Old Boys continued their excellent form, three goals in the space of seven second minutes from Christopher Wraighte, Guy Heffernan and John-Paul Stanway earning a 3-1 home win over Widnes that moved them up in to fourth place.

Ashton Town staged their first home game since 31st October, but it was visitors Litherland REMYCA who enjoyed the afternoon more, with Colin Quirk scoring twice for Remy in a 4-1 win.

Gavin Salmon scored both of Northwich Manchester Villa’s goals in the 2-1 win at Eccleshall, and Alex McPolin also scored twice in Daisy Hill’s 3-0 home win against Chadderton.

Kristian Evans of Atherton LR scored the only hat trick of the afternoon but ended up on the losing side, as Rochdale Town beat LR by the odd goal in seven at the Mayfield Sports Centre.
