Bacup Borough have fought off interest from several other clubs to secure the signature of former Oldham Athletic player Kelvin Trippier.

The player, pictured left, who was formerly known as Kelvin Lomax, has played over one hundred Football League games, the majority coming for Oldham Athletic between 2004 – 2011.

Kelvin has also played in Australia for Shepparton United. The 28-year-old is the older brother of former Manchester City and Burnley full back Kieran Trippier who has recently signed for Tottenham Hotspur.

Manager Brent Peters said: “Kelvin is a first class player who can play several positions.  The boy oozes quality and professionalism which will not only be a vital asset on the pitch but off the pitch. Kelvin will take the lead by way of example and others will follow.

"This signing has proved to be a special, helped by the fact that Kelvin is also close to my first team coach Andy Barlow and is friendly with Captain Shane Birtles.

"There is no doubt that the player is capable of playing at an higher level but the influence of my coach and captain have been major factors in bringing such a highly talented player to the Brian Boys West View Stadium.

“Hopefully the quality of Kelvin joining us will open the door for others to follow”.
