Although seven games fell foul of the weather on Saturday, the games that survived in both the Premier and First Divisions provided plenty of talking points.

Runcorn Linnets extended their lead at the top of the Premier Division to twelve points, but they were made fight all the way for all three points in a thriller at Alsager Town.

Linnets led 2-0 after half an hour, but Town staged a storming comeback to lead 3-2 midway through the second half. But Christopher Lomax equalised for Linnets with 18 minutes to go, and in a dramatic finale Ross McDowell grabbed the winner in the last minute to clinch a 4-3 win for the visitors.

Nelson moved into 5th place with a 4-0 win at home to St Helens Town, a goal in each half from Paul Fildes and a goal apiece from brothers Joe and Ed O'Neill seeing them through to a convincing victory.

A Danny Penswick goal 18 minutes from time rescued a point for Squires Gate in a 1-1 draw at home to Abbey Hey, who had taken the lead on the stroke of half with a goal from Nico Collins.

Two goals from Tom Peterson took him on to 10 for the season and earned Bootle a 2-1 win over Congleton Town, while Runcorn Town beat Silsden 3-1 at the Pavilions. Daniel Toone's early penalty was cancelled out just after the hour when Aaron Hollindrake equalised for the visitors, but goals from Paul Shanley and Sam Houghton secured the points for Town.

There were goals aplenty throughout Division One, and the much awaited top of the table clash between Atherton Collieries and Cammell Laird 1907 could have easily delivered more than the four that the two teams shared, had it not been for profligacy in front of goal at both ends and some fine saves from both keepers.

Lairds established a two goal lead by the 54th minute courtesy of Joe Evans and Adam Hughes, but Colls fought back and Mark Truffas and Brad Cooke rescued a point from a 2-2 draw.

Hanley Town moved into fourth place after a storming start to their game at Oldham Boro saw them four goals up inside 13 minutes, Josh Hall eventually collecting a hat trick in a 6-1 win.

Barnton drop to fifth place on goal difference after being held to a 2-2 draw at home to Northwich Flixton Villa, Anthony Wynne and Mark Derbyshire rescuing a point with two goals in the last 18 minutes for the home side.

Atherton LR are in 6th place after a dramatic late comeback at Rochdale Town earned them a 2-2 draw after being two down with 13 minutes remaining. Stephen Solademi pulled a goal back before a last minute Joshua Melling penalty secured a point.

Widnes put their recent run of poor form behind them with a 5-0 win over Eccleshall, Graham Molloy scoring twice, and another side who ended a bad run of results was Ashton Town, whose 2-1 win at Cheadle Town was their first in the league since mid-September.

A Matthew Russell penalty six minutes from time earned Chadderton a 2-2 draw at home to Litherland REMYCA, and a goal in the 51st minute by Isaac Illidge proved decisive in Irlam's 2-1 win over AFC Darwen at Silver Street.
