Glossop Ground Improvements Unveiled

Glossop North End officially marked the installation of their new pitch perimeter fencing ahead of their MEN United Cup fixture against AFC Blackpool last Saturday.
The project was made possible thanks to a £19,554 grant from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF), the largest funders of non-league football in the country.
The funding has enabled the ‘Hillmen’ to ensure that the club’s Surrey Street home meets the necessary ground requirements should they be promoted to the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League. The previous pitch perimeter railing, which had been in place for over fifty years, was in a very poor condition and posed a threat to player safety and the club’s future ambitions.
Funded with £6m each year from the Premier League, the FSIF is the country’s largest provider of grants towards projects that help improve the comfort and safety of lower league football grounds in both the professional and amateur game. These improvements range from new football stands and turnstiles to floodlighting and improved provision for disabled supporters.
Peter Hammond, Club Secretary, Glossop North End AFC, said: “We are extremely grateful to the Football Stadia Improvement Fund for their support.
"Like other clubs at our level, we are working really hard to rebuild our club in all aspects. In my role as Club Secretary, I travel far and wide during the course of the season and the contribution the FSIF is making to so many clubs is clear to see. The work that the FSIF does is crucial for a grassroots club like ours, and provides an important boost to our aims and ambitions”/
Peter McCormick OBE, Chairman of the Football Stadia Improvement Fund, commented: “I am delighted that Glossop North End have been able to make these ground improvements courtesy of funding from the FSIF. This will be of great benefit to the club for many years to come and provide a solid platform for the ‘Hillmen’ to progress through the lower league system. I
